Flagstone: Random or Square Cut

Flagstone is a sedimentary rock that is split into layers along bedding planes. Flagstone is quarried in places with bedded sedimentary rocks with fissile bedding planes. Most of our flagstone is from the Owen Sound & Wiarton area.

Usage:

Random Flagstone is in irregular shape as they break off from the quarry floor they are sorted by 3/4″,1″, 1.5″ or 2″ thickness by hand onto skids.  Random pattern gives a more relaxed, rustic & natural look. They are sold by weight ranging ~$3-$5 per square foot.

Coverage per ton:

3/4″ per ton covers ~180 sq ft

1″ per ton covers ~140 sq ft

1.5″ per ton covers ~100 sq ft

2″ per ton covers ~80 sq ft

Square Cut Flagstone gives a rectilinear, more simple & modern feel. It is more formal/ elegant compared to random pattern, It is easier to install with linear/ grid pattern or a modular pattern. They are sold by the square foot ~ranging $7-13 per square foot.
